Do you ever scroll through someone’s Instagram feed and see all the pretty pages and wonder how the heck they got their pages to look like that? How they create these perfect images, that are all perfectly edited, and all flow perfectly together? Cause yeah, I used to wonder that too!
Honestly, I used to find instagram so stressfull. I had no clue what I was doing and I felt like my page would never look like those of the influencers who I looked up to! Now, I work from Insta full time and I love curating content! So, here are my top tips for creating a perfectly curated Instagram feed!
Table of Contents
1. FIND YOUR STYLE
It’s important that your photos stay on brand, but what “on brand” means is up to YOU! What do you want to share? What’s your main topic? (fashion, travel, life, etc.) What story do you want to tell? Create content that displays the message you want your brand to give.
Color choice and location will also play a role in how your feed comes together! Find a color palette that you like and work with that. I do a lot of blues and pinks, but color palette could also mean your pics are all slightly faded or desaturated to give them a similar feel even though the colors change.
The trick to having a cohesive aesthetic is figuring out what you like. Scroll through your feed and see what your favorite photos have in common. Do you like photos that are moody, minimalist, or colorful? Once you figure this out you’ll know what vibes to go with for your Instagram feed!
2. USE A PRESET
The best way to showcase your aesthetic is by having a sense of unity in your Instagram feed. To do that you need to have a consistent way of editing your photos. Using the same preset or set of presets on all of your photos is the easiest way to make them flow together and look good in your feed!
I like Lightroom presets because they’re sup[er customizable and give you a ton of control but you can use other apps like VSCO or Tezza too! Here’s a list of must have apps that will help you edit your feed to perfection!
3. MIX UP YOUR POSES
Posting a bunch of photos with the same exact pose can get boring, so get creative and mix it up! Try adding some movement and props or try posting photos taken from different angles! This will keep your feed looking fun and dynamic and could even make your photos perform better!
4. PLAN YOUR FEED IN ADVANCE
Now that you have an aesthetic in mind and have a couple different types of photos to post, you need to make your feed flow. It‘s difficult to create a consistent theme without planning out your feed first, so I use UNUM and Plann to arrange my photos before posting. I like to stay at least one week ahead of posting so that I have enough photos to play around with so I know that i have the perfect one to post next!
5. DON’T BE AFRAID TO EXPERIMENT
As you start to build and grow a community it’s important to experiment with your content, images vs video, personal vs editorial content. Figure out what resonates with your audience. You never know what may work for you and your community.
I hope these tips help you to create the Instagram feed of your dreams!! Be patient with this process and don’t give up. I’d love to see how your feeds are looking, so please drop your link and thoughts in the comments!
