Traveling to Barcelona soon and wondering what you should do? This city is full of vibrant culture, delicious food, world-class nightlife, stunning views and magnificent architecture. Did I mention there’s amazing beaches too? It’s no wonder Barcelona tops most people’s must-see lists when they head to Europe. If you’re wondering what to do and where to go in Barcelona – you came to the right place. Here’s a list of my favorite things to do in Barcelona!
Table of Contents
Cappuccinos and Croissants
Cappuccinos and croissants at a sidewalk cafe in the morning and wine and tapas at those cafes in the evening. Just pick one that looks good to you and watch the world go by.
Pro Tips: don’t stop at the first cafe or tapas restaurant you see on the main road. Many of these spots especially on Las Ramblas are not very authentic but if you take a few extra minutes and explore the smaller side roads you’ll find plenty of amazing and authentic restaurants!
What To Pack
Stroll through the Gothic Quarter
Take a stroll through the Gothic Quarter and make your way to the Gothic Cathedral. This was one of my favorite parts about my trip to Barcelona! There are hundreds of small restaurants and boutiques tucked in the many alleyways in this area. Part of the magic of this city is just getting lost in its little streets and alleyways.
Walk on the Beach
Walk along Barceloneta beach or Port Vell, and enjoy a slow evening sipping rosé by the water. Pop into a restaurant or two for some tapas and then head back to Port Vell for a sunset cruise.
Head to Parc del Montjuic.
Head to the grounds of the Parc del Montiuc. There’s so much to see here including the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (the museums of national art of Catalunya) and the Magic Fountain show. Rent a bike and pedal through the iconic grounds or bring some comfortable walking shoes and get lost exploring the different sites.
Visit Gaudi
Many of the Gaudi exhibits are very touristy, but they’re worth braving the crowds! Make sure to visit La Sagrada Familia, Casa Batillo, Casa Vicens, and of course Park Guell. Buy tickets ahead of time so that you don’t have to wait and so you get the online only discounts! Visit Park Guell in the morning or evening to experience one of the most amazing views in the whole city. Book your tickets here!
Picnic in The Park
Stop at La Boqueria to pick up some food and then head to the Arc de Triomf and Park De La Ciutadella for a picnic. La Boqueria is a historic market where you get get fresh fruit, bread, chocolates, etc. from different stands!
