One of my most asked questions is: how do you find so many colorful photo spots while traveling? The truth is, I start researching places for photos on Instagram and Pinterest way before leaving on my trip!

Hashtags for the win!
I start my research by using hashtags to find local bloggers’ profiles (ex. #charlotteblogger). This is the number one thing I do before exploring any new city because it will almost always lead you to the best spots!
Use location tags
Next, i use geotags to look for other photo spots that are tagged at those locations. Sometimes you can find photos that are taken from different angels or viewpoints that are way better than your original idea! Once i find some good photos I look through those accounts to see if they’ve posted any other photos or locations that I should save!
Find city specific accounts
Many destinations and tourism boards have their own Instagram accounts where they’ll share cool photos and things to do. There are also tons of feature and repost accounts that specifically only post about their own cities. These pages are great for finding locations and local accounts! And don’t forget to check out their tagged photos because you never know what gems you’ll find!
Pinterest is your best friend.
I also use Pinterest to search for articles or blogs on the most Instagrammable spots to visit in that city. I always look for articles by other travel bloggers! Not only do they give you the best location but you can also save their photos as inspiration for outfits, angles, and poses! Plus, many times if you look through their instagram feed you can find even more cute spots that didn’t make it onto their blog!
Collections are a must!
Be sure to take advantage of Instagram’s “Collections” feature and save photos of places you want to visit, as well as inspiration photos from other people. I create Collections for all the cities and countries I plan on visiting or revisiting! They’re basically like Pinterest boards, except they live on Instagram!
And don’t forget to save multiple photos of places you really want to go, because if people delete or archive their photos, they disappear from your collections as well.
