Have you ever looked at someone’s photo and wonder how the heck they got that shot without anyone in it? Getting travel photos without a million other people in the background can be a challenge and sometimes even impossible. But, here are a few tips and tricks that you can use to make it happen!
And if you’re looking for some good locations to shoot at, here’s a collection of my favorite photo spots from around the world!
Table of Contents
Be the first one there
Trust me, i’m not a morning person so this one is difficult for me too but if you want travel photos without people in the background you’re going to have to get there early! Even super touristy spots will be empty if you get there around sunrise! Plus, you’ll have perfect lighting for your photos too!
Be the last one there
If you can’t get to your location early then try and stay there late! You’ll have to be quick if the location closes soon but if you’re lucky you’ll be one of the last people there and get the perfect shot with no one in it!
Be patient and act fast
Its not always possible to avoid the crowds but if you’re patient enough, sometimes you can wait it out and everyone will move! Once you have the spot to yourself take your photos using the burst mode on your camera. This will help you to get as many shots as possible in the time that you have!
Choose your angle wisely
This might seem obvious, but if you can’t get the location to yourself then use angles to fake it! You can take close ups or get really creative with your angles and take your photos in a way that no one can possibly fit in your shot! Or if you cant find the right angel just use your body to block them from view!
Get creative
If the location you’re trying to shoot at is just too crowded i.e shots right in front of the Eiffel Tower or Brooklyn bridge then find a different spot to photograph it from! Shooting your photos from a different viewpoint will help keep people out of your photos and will also make your photos stand out from all the others taken there!
Last resort: Editing
Even If you follow all of these tips you still might end up with people in your photos. In this. case, just try removing them later on! You can use Lightroom, or Photoshop or apps like Retouch, Snapseed, and Retouchify to edit items out of your photos!
